SOLD, thank you.
A fine Chinese famille rose tea caddy from the 1700s. The hat shaped lid has a very nice fruit form finial as the old ones often do. The vessel itself has a shoulder conforming well with the shape of the lid. This is the form copied by Meissen in the 18th century for their tea caddies. Rare grisaille color decorations very spartan and detailed, pure 18th century!
5.2" high and 3" wide. Enamels in good condition. 2 shallow and small chips at the rim see picture. It is hidden from view when the lid is on. Lid itself is in amazingly good shape.
Tea caddies are always in demand. This is a very nice one in classic form. Don't miss it if you like tea caddies.
