An exceptional Chinese 18th century (Qianlong) export plate or earlier. It is a grisaille landscape of exceptionally fine detail. The thin thin lines give a furry appearance when viewed normally by eye. But a heavily magnified view (see pic) reveals the idyllic water scene with incredible detail. The top detail picture is about actual size (4" diameter) on my computer. Bottom detail is a much magnified view. Very nice form with the slightly barbed rim and the old border decorations in grey and gold.
About 1.5" high x 8" rim diameter. A little gold gilt loss. Alas there is an old tight hairline to the right of the center medallion about 4" long. The line does not appear on the bottom. Also a small foot rim chip. Otherwise good condition.
This is a rare period Chinese export a real tour de force for the collector of old Chinese export. Unique and not likely to find another.
