An unusual Chinese export antique silver hexagonal form master salt cellar on 4 little ball feet and with Peking glass liner. The silver vessel was made complete with openwork all around to form the designs: a prunus and a bamboo scene on opposite sides; the other 4 sides has Chinese characters for health & tenacity, fortune & longevity, 100 fortunes & numerous years (longevity again). Bottom hallmark says "Luenwo" "312" and Chinese silversmith hallmark. (Usually the English name is for the retail merchant and the Chinese name is for the smith who made it normally different shops.) The glass is old, well formed and beautifully polished as well as bevelled along the rim. About 120-100 years old.
2.3" long by 1.6" deep by 1.25" high. Wonderful condition with no breaks in the openwork and no chips or lines on the liner. This antique salt is unique. And the workmanship is super. If you collect old salts this is not to be missed.
