Sold, thank you.
A large carved dingyao plate over 10" in diameter. Freely carved design of lotus blossoms in the center and conforming scroll on the rim band. Creamy glaze with a hint of butterscotch, sometimes known as tienbai (sweet white). Glaze pooling in the recesses, unglazed rim. A couple of tiny kiln imperfections (about 2 o'clock on the back) covered by the glaze, and a couple of black spots also under the glaze. Unglazed footrim. Song dynasty without question, 10th century.
Very good condition with no chips or hairlines. From the island estate of the publisher of a well-known business magazine.
Note: Picture of details were taken in open shade with no flash. Hence the difference in color from the full size views.
Note: Just for fun, compare the lotus design on my Tongzhi mark and period plate #301258.
