Sold, thank you.
A large blue and white plate from the Daoguang era (1821-1850) showing a literary party. There are 18 scholars engaged in different activities including playing a qing stringed instrument, viewing a scroll painting, playing the game "GO", and generally socializing. All are dressed in Ming garb. Painted in fine detail. Excellent clear blues. A buddhist symbol in the center on the back.
9.5" diameter, and in very good condition. There is one small kiln bubble or dimple near the center censor. No chips hairlines or repairs.
--------P.S. The two figures in the lower left appear to be exchanging secret hand signals by touch in the manner of jade dealers. You can still occasionally see this in the Jade Market in Hongkong. Deals are made this way so that onlookers cannot tell the price.
