The late Lynn Langdon found the three Pre-Columbian ceramics in this lot (LLL567-677-687) in West Mexico in the mid-20th century. Intact and in overall very good to excellent condition with a couple of small rim chips to 677 and 687, the incised teardrop censer is 3 ½” tall, the polychrome jar 4 ¾” tall, and the bichrome bowl 4 ¾” wide. Langdon assigned the pieces to the Jalisco and Nayarit groups dating them c.300BC-600AD. The price shown buys all three of the pottery pieces together...

From the collection of the late Lynn Langdon who found this figurine (LLL125) in west Mexico in the mid-20th century, this figure is attributed to the Colima period, c.500BC-200AD. The slightly bow-legged image has been glued together and represents a powerful male wearing necklace, armbands, a head sash, and a kilt-like loin covering. The figure, which will not stand on its own, can be easily displayed in an upright position with a simple wire stand...

Measuring 4 1/4" in height, this striking figural jar from the MAB collection (MAB.187) is dated c.1250AD in the Post-Classic Period and attributed to the Zapotec horizon in Oaxaca, Mexico. In spite of the kneeling figure missing both of its feet and having its head re-attached (graded at a 6-7), it still shows its artistry well. Please ask any question by either referring to the Item Number (5-7 digits long) or the Stock number (MAB.187) in the upper left portion of this page...

This highly burnished red ware melon jar (CLP 1) is one of my favorite items from Claudia Proto's collection of West Mexican Pre-Columbian art. 8" wide and 6 1/4" tall, it simply bubbles with fun and style in spite of the its obviously damaged condition ( in our opinion, it still deserves a quality rank of '7', with 10 being the tops). Assigned to the Colima horizon dating c,100-300AD, it suffers a bruised nose and a rim that is missing a couple of chunks with some glue to hold another in place...

Sporting a nose ring, complex ear ornaments, armlets, and an open mouth that would seem to indicate a 'singing' drummer, this seated polychrome figure (CLP 33) is attributed to the Nayarit of West Mexico, Ixtlan del Rio style, dating c.100 B.C. to 300 A.D. Just TL-tested by the Ralf Kotalla Lab in Hamburg, Germany, it has been determined to be 1800 years old (+ or - 300) years...

Measuring 9 ¾” in width and 3 5/8” tall, this intact polychrome tripod grater bowl (LLL15) was found in west Mexico in the middle 20th century. There is little evidence of use in the sharp-edged incised grater area. The burnished surface paint is strong although obvious black negative resist décor has been mostly removed. Decorated around the inside with basic geometric elements, the two opposing circular disks contain central snake-like designs. The stubby, phalliform legs are hollow and ...
