This ancient Roman relic (MAB 329), a very rare lamp mold, is from the estate of a well-known antiquities dealer/collector who lived in the southwestern U.S. Measuring 8” in length, the mold dates into the Roman Christian Era, c.4th to 5th Century A.D. and is in overall very good restored condition. Originally used to make the upper plate of a fired clay lamp while another similar mold was used to make the base of the lamp, once made the two parts were then sealed together...

This highly burnished red ware melon jar (CLP 1) is one of my favorite items from Claudia Proto's collection of West Mexican Pre-Columbian art. 8" wide and 6 1/4" tall, it simply bubbles with fun and style in spite of the its obviously damaged condition ( in our opinion, it still deserves a quality rank of '7', with 10 being the tops). Assigned to the Colima horizon dating c,100-300AD, it suffers a bruised nose and a rim that is missing a couple of chunks with some glue to hold another in place...
