|This group of twelve (MLB 15, 16, 24, 25, 30, 41, 48-52 and 70) represents a mixture of types, both Indian and western, from the diverse estate of Asa Battles. A fine ancient ¾-grooved axe, several stone pestles and a celt, two pipes of possible Mississippian age, and a later historic fish-shaped pipe, two hide fleshers, a late Indian Wars period canteen, and even an early WW I period compass from Hungary (told you it was a mix…). With prices ranging from $75 to $475, each piece is individually priced on its own photo group. Listed first in brackets is the unique inventory number of the item shown, followed by a brief description, then a numerical grade between 1-10 based on condition (with 10 being the best), the probable culture and age, some additional descriptive information, and finally the item’s price. Every piece comes with a small display card, a short biographical sketch about the late Mr. Battles, and our certificate guaranteeing the item to be as described. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero ITEM # or to the STOCK # at the top of this page, and ALSO to the MLB number as shown on its photo. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing time, try our popular ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have up to twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold in one of the groups of twelve will be so noted on its own photograph.|
