|This 7 ¼” finely marked black-on-orange Pre-Columbian vessel (JDR.2) is attributed to the Lambayeque horizon of the north coast of Peru. Dating c.800-1300AD, the handled jar is 4 ¼” in diameter and has a 3” tall spout, below which clinging to the side of the jar is a crouched monkey. In overall good condition (I’d rank it a 7), it has been partially restored and the monkey replaced and rebuilt where damaged. A few paint chips still adhere to the surface of the jar, and it has one tiny hole that may have been caused by a probe. The jar comes with a map outlining the Lambayeque area, a display card, and our guarantee of authenticity. Select or ask any question by first referring to the Trocadero Number on this page, or the item’s inventory number, JDR 2. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our popular ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.|
