This collection of stone celts and axes (MAB.262, 263 to 266, 268, 295, 309 and MAB.311) starts the final listing of all that remains from the estate of a popular southwestern U.S. dealer whose specialties included Old and New World antiquities, ancient and historic coins, along with a variety of other cultural materials. Though most of the items in this group come with provenance, there are some which do not (style and rock type might hint to the probable area in which they were found). In the U.S., relics from the states of Arizona, Indiana, Illinois and New Mexico are shown. The other New World entry is from Panama. From the Old World, Denmark and Syria are represented. Grades range from 5 to 9 on a 1-10 scale basis with most of them on the high side ranging 7 to 9. Prices in this group range from $45 to $300 based on condition and rarity of style. Each photo lists first the specific inventory number of the illustrated item in brackets, a brief description, provenience when known or assumed, and grade. Each piece comes with a small display card and a biographical sketch about the past owner. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero ITEM # or the STOCK # at the top of this page, and ALSO to the item’s INVENTORY NUMBER as shown in the brackets on its photo. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and limit your browsing time, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that offer up to twelve individually priced items on a single page! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its own photograph.
