The 20-22K gold and the quartz beads were originally found in the mid-20th century at the famed location known as “El Bolo”, which is located near the site of Cali, Colombia. Broadly attributed to the early Calima-San Augustine style dating c.100BC – 400 AD, the legally obtained beads were eventually professionally incorporated into this end-to-end 20” necklace (DXC.1) using contemporary wire and locking gold clasp. Included in the very wearable piece of jewelry, are three full-bodied gold birds with dangles, two gold hummingbird head beads, twenty-eight granulated gold beads with discoidal end caps (8 of which are smaller than the others), and thirty-eight crystal quartz beads with 6 being round and the rest cylindrical. The group of photos on the following pages shows close-ups and different angles for most of the necklace’s components. Wouldn’t this beauty make a wonderful gift on ANY day of the year?? A purchase comes with a fine jewelry case for the necklace, a descriptive card for exhibiting the necklace, a map of Colombia showing the location of the El Bolo site, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity and legality.
