|The African gold beads and pendants in this group of 12 (100.78CHD, 100.78FHD, 100.78PHD, 100.78AGHD, 100.78BFHD, 100.78BKHD, 100.78BRHD, 100.78CFHD, 100.78COHD, 101.1FHD, 101.1GHD and 102.44CHD) represent a mixture of Akan and Baule tribal styles dating from the 19th century into the 20th century. Among the various types are tube, disk, and rectangular, all very wearable and can be used either individually or as spacers in complex necklaces. Due to the age of the beads, gold content can range from about 10K up to 14K and perhaps a little higher (the older the bead, the higher the gold content tends to be). Each piece comes with a small display card at the top of which is a brief description of the bead, followed by the name of the bead when known (as might be described by its African maker), its tribal affiliation, and its approximate age. At the bottom left of the card is the inventory number and at the bottom right, the price. A ruler, divided into inches, is shown at the bottom of each picture. The gram weight of the bead is shown at the bottom center of the ruler. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then our Inventory Number as shown on the given photograph. Any that have been sold will be so-marked on the appropriate photo. A purchase comes with a map of West Africa highlighting the Akan-Baule areas, and a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
