Twelve Louisiana Artifacts, Heflin Group B
Each of the twelve individually priced prehistoric Indian artifacts in this group (AXH66.3, 6, 11, 14, 15, 20, 27, 28, 33, 35, 39, and 43), all found by the late Dr. Allen Heflin in Louisiana in the 1940s, was attached to a frame with Elmer’s glue. Included in the group are what appear to be the following point types: Evans, Gahagen, Gary, a gouge, Hidden Valley, Langtry, Langtry-Arenosa, Marcos, and Smith). Heflin marked all of the points on one side in black ink with the provenance, and usually the date of find. Small patches of black paper still adhering to the backs of the points have not been removed due to concern of losing Heflin’s inked notations. However, the paper can be easily taken off with a short soak in tepid water and gentle scratching with the fingernail. If done gently, most of the ink should remain. Each photo has a standard ruler for scale, and shows first our inventory number in brackets followed by the point type and then a grade estimate (1-10). Next, when information can be seen, comes the location and date of find, and the parish (or county) in which it was found. The archaeological period is followed by a brief on condition, and finally the price. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then to our Inventory Number shown on the given photograph. Each artifact comes in a small Riker-style collector frame along with a biographical sketch about Heflin, a map of Louisiana with the area where the point was found highlighted, and our certificate guaranteeing that the artifact is prehistoric in age. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
