Twelve Western U.S. Points: Heflin, Group D
The twelve individually illustrated and priced Indian artifacts in this group of twelve (AXH67.25, 31, 61, 72, 73, 76, 87, 90, 92, 95, 114 and 121) were taken out of a shadow box frame belonging to the late Dr. Allen Heflin. The points, small and considered ‘bird points’ by many collectors, are all true arrowheads rather than dart or atlatl points. Included in the group are the following types: Alba, Colbert, Cuney, an exceptional Desert Delta, Fresno, Mummy Cave, Rose Springs Stemmed, Scallorn, Snake River Arrow, and Steiner. Conditions range from fairly good to excellent, and States where the points were found include Arkansas, Louisiana, North Dakota, Oregon and Utah. Heflin marked most of the points on one side with his inventory number in black ink. On the back of the frame, he attached a schematic diagram showing the provenance for each of the points. Small patches of black paper are still glued to the backs of the points (easily removed with a short soak in tepid water). Each photo in this group shows first our inventory number in brackets followed by the point type and then a grade estimate (1-10). Next comes the provenance information followed by the archaeological period. A brief description concerning condition comes next, and finally the price. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number on this page, and then to our Inventory Number shown on the given photograph. Each artifact comes in a small Riker-style collector frame along with a biographical sketch about Heflin, a copy of Heflin’s key that was attached to the back of the frame, and our certificate guaranteeing that the artifact is prehistoric in age. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced!
