|All from the collection of research anthropologist and former Southwestern primitive arts dealer, Lorenzo Gordon Fritz, this intriguing and magical assortment of native-made items (LFG 430, 431, 435, 440, 457, 473, 477, 480, 481, 491, 492 and 498) date from the Late Inca Period up to the early 20th century. Collected by Fritz in the highlands of Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador, the group consists largely of magical stone fetishes (illas and sipjas) said to bring prosperity, good fortune, and fecundity to person and livestock alike. Llama, sheep, farm buildings, oxen, and even the weaver’s hand have been carved primarily from alabaster. Many were made and traded by Kallawaya medicine men, the wandering healers with a history dating back to the powerful Inca. Also included in this group are two antique carved wood and clothed dolls from Ecuador. Each item is individually photographed and priced, with prices in the group ranging from $35.00 to $230.00. Dimensions can be easily estimated by comparing the item to a centimeter scale in the photo (1” = @ 2.5 cms). Annotations on the photo give first the item’s inventory number in brackets, followed by a brief description. Other notations follow including area found, description of images, period made, condition, etc. The last listing is the price. Each item comes with a small display card, a biographical sketch about the collector, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring first to the Trocadero Item Number at the top of this page, and then to the item’s Inventory Number in brackets as it appears on its photo. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.|
