|Talk about variety! This group of eleven African collectibles (96.71 & 100.37BHD; AXH 1163, 1356, 2989, 2991, 2995, 2996 & 2998; BB 59; and WJF 480), each individually priced, contains items from West Africa, Tanganyika, Sudan, South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Ghana and Niger. Included are: a superb shaman’s shirt from the secretive pan-tribal Poro Society of West Africa; a Neolithic quartz labret; drum; basket; quivers and arrows; hand forged sword blade; and a stone celt. Dating from the Neolithic period to the 20th century, almost any one of the collectibles in this group would make an interesting display and a conversation starter. With prices ranging from $15-$190 (except for the rare shaman shirt at $3500), and tribes & sects representing the Makonde, Zulu, Akamba or Masai, the Poro, and more, the collector of African art should find much to be intrigued by. Each photo shows first our inventory number in brackets followed by a brief description, follows by its size, the location, the approximate age and then the cultural horizon. Last are any special notes and the price of the pictured item. Each item comes with a small descriptive card, a biographical sketch about the collector when known, and our certificate guaranteeing authenticity. Select or ask any question by referring either to the Trocadero ITEM # or the STOCK # (AFRICAN.F) at the top of this page, and ALSO to the item’s INVENTORY NUMBER as shown in the brackets on its photo. NOTE: if you would like to view a large number of our various listings, and at the same time limit your browsing, try our ‘TWELVE different items on a single page format’ by simply spelling out the word TWELVE in the search box. That will quickly bring up all of our listings that have twelve different items on a page, each individually priced! And if you want to further refine the group, add one or two additional modifiers at the same time such as ‘Indian, Precolumbian, Stone, Pot, Gold, etc.’ Any item that has been sold will be so noted on its photograph.|
