This is a wonderful and evocative folk art religious expression as well as a painting. It has been venerated and protected for many years by the people in whose care it has been. This is evidenced by the addition of earrings to grace the madonna, as well as a jewel on her crown. The Madonna and the Christ child are both fair of face and the clouds they rest upon are well painted. But, to me, it is the earrings that make this a really moving piece of art. Rusty, as is most often the condition of these old tin pieces. But, all in all, in nice condition. Dimensions: 16" H X 12" W |
