| Beautiful and delicate gold brooch with pearls from the Tehuantepec Istmus in Oaxaca Mexico. Great example of the amazing work done in Oaxacan Gold Jewelry. Very similar to pendant shown in page 108 of the book "Mexican Jewelry" by Mary L. Davis and Greta Pack. This kind of work was usually done in 14 K gold and the carved leaves and flowers in 22 K. The use of different alloys of gold was used to achieve variations in color. Marked 14K in the back. These pieces are not produced anymore and they were not produced for the tourist. They were made for the local women who wore them at important celebrations. Measures: 1-3/4" in diameter. Very good vintage condition. | ||||||||
