| Offered is this superb and scarce Silver Milled Sixpence of Queen Elizabeth 1st.Obv: Tall narrow bust with plain dress, large rose behind. Rev: Cross fourchee and shield. Dated 1562 mm. Star. The milled coins of Elizabeth 1st were issued from 1561 for only a few years before being discontinued. It was thought that the milling process was slow and inefficient compared to hand striking. These milled coins are of far superior quality and are highly prized in good condition.Spink reference is 2594.It is a beautiful and scarce coin in VF condition. | ||
