| This is an 19th century oil painting on what appears to be canvas that has been affixed to a wood panel. The image is from the Shakespeare play "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and features Falstaff, a comical character. The painting is from England and is unsigned as far as we can determine. There are some condition issues with this painting, mainly the surface which has crazed significantly, pulling apart in places. The photos (and price) reflect the poor condition. The painting is housed in a very nice Italian gilt frame from the early 1900's that measures 7.5 X 6.5 inches. | ||
