| We have a colorful old Edwardian era postcard from England depicting a fox hunter entitled "A Country Squire". It is signed and dated in ink on the bottom of the card by the artist, Henrie Pitcher, 25.3.05, which would be March 25, 1905. Pitcher, from England and active around the turn of the century, was known for painting character portraits. He quotes a writer: "Here's to the horse, and the rider too, of course; And here's to the rally o' the hunt, boys". Housed in a very fine olivewood frame from the 1800's that measures around 9 X 7.25 inches. | ||
