| This wood handle called “ GHURRA” are used to guide the churning-rod for churning milk into butter and are real pieces of art probably because milk is considered as sacred medium and primordial for life. The sculptural motifs and the designs reflect the infinity of creativity and mystical experience of the artists who have carved these Ghurra in remote villages with very archaic tools. This one is a very old Ghurra with an exceptional carving showing on top a small house, the central part figures an interlace of rope with a knot of a great realism. The solar disk shows very important signs of long use. Age is between 80 and 100 years, very good condition. Height 10 inches (25cm). The piece is nicely mounted on an iron stand. | ||
