wooden Churning-rod holder 5 ; Ghurra
Wooden Churning-rod holder 1 ; Ghurra; 180 euros This wood handle called “ GHURRA” are used to guide the churning-rod for churning milk into butter and are real pieces of art probably because milk is considered as sacred medium and primordial for life. The sculptural motifs and the designs reflect the infinity of creativity and mystical experience of the artists who have carved these Ghurra in remote villages with very archaic tools. This one is an old Ghurra with a very great classical design. the top figures a small house supported by a knot of ropes very precisely carved emerging from four milk pots. obvious signs of great use, age is likely around 50 years. very good condition. The piece is nicely mounted on an iron stand.
