Wooden Churning-rod holder 6 ; Ghurra
This wood handle called “ GHURRA” are used to guide the churning-rod for churning milk into butter and are real pieces of art probably because milk is considered as sacred medium and primordial for life. The sculptural motifs and the designs reflect the infinity of creativity and mystical experience of the artists who have carved these Ghurra in remote villages with very archaic tools. This one show a very massive design reminding the symmetry of the dorge. Another interesting and unusual characteristic of this Ghurra is the thick white patina resulting from milk deposit over years. Obvious signs of long use and great age , probably over 50 years. Height 12 1/3 inches (31 cm), very good condition. The piece is nicely mounted on an iron stand.
