| This interesting fine mask has been collected from Tamang tribes in East Nepal (district of Rameschap) the design and style are quite unusual refined considering its Tamang origin. Note the deep carving surrounding the eyes and the mouth to figures eyebrows and mustaches. Note also a thin layer of metal likely coper fixed with nails to figure the barb. This mask was fixed to the dancer head in a very unusual fashion with a cloth strap nailed directly in the inside face of the mask. Very thin and precise carving especially for positioning the noose inside. Strong very dry wood, very good condition, age is at least 50 years. Height 9 1/8 inches (23 cm), Wide 6 inches (15 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on an iron stand. | ||
