| A strong and powerful mask collected from Magar people from the remote district of Humla. Note the white color on the left side of the face whereas the right side is more deep black and made shinny, this likely figures the white and the dark side of the soul, like the yin and the yang. Minimal style with square shaped holes for eyes and mouth. Very good condition , obvious signs of long use. Very strong and heavy wood very good condition, age is at least 70/80 years, but possibly much more considering the extreme hardness of the wood. Height 10 1/3 inches (26 cm), Wide 6 inches (15 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on an iron stand. | ||
