| A fragment cut from a flat carved panel figuring one of the two most famous deities protecting Tharu villages in the south west of Nepal. These panels are fixed deeply into the ground and kept in sanctuary either in special huts or in open field. One can note the presence of a superb archaic stylized human figure carved in the right lower part ; other carving designs can be barely seen. Very impressive signs of water erosion, very great age possibly close to 150 years considering that it is made with extremely hard wood. A master piece of Tharu culture which is disappearing on the pressure of modern style of live. One must be aware that it has been cut probably because either too heavy to carry or too much damaged. The panel sizes are 23 ½ x 13 ½ x 2 inches (59 X 34 x 5 cm) and the weight is 9 kg , 11 KG including the stand. | ||
