| This figure shows a rather usual style for an Himalayan carving, it is a very fine stylized simple figure showing a rather modern design. The strength of the figure comes from the combination of geometrical shapes and carving giving a strong symmetry. This figures has been collected from Bothia or Magar people in the very remote district of Mugu. Very hard and dark wood as often the case with Mugu pieces. Obvious sign of age with a nice black encrusted thick patina, age is at least 60 to 80 y, (first part of 20th). Very good condition, height 41.5 cm (16 1/2 Inches), the figure is based on a metal stand | ||
