Jade "Buddha's Hand" Pendant Early to Mid 19th Century

Pendant of Citron fruit (also known as Buddha's Hand) crafted from the tremolite form of Nephrite. Nicely detailed leaves near top where the fruit meets the vine. Small hole at top for stringing on necklace. A symbol of happiness and longevity, the hand shaped fruit was also a good luck talisman for gamblers. This piece is hand carved and hand polished, both of which became rarities for Jade pieces by the late 19th century. Genuine pieces such as this are becoming extremely hard to find at reasonable prices these days. Period: Qing Dynasty, Late 19th century Dimension: Length 6.5cm Width 3.5cm *Acquired from a well known Massachusetts collector's estate.
