An Indonesian Flores ikat cloth
An ikat cloth from Watu Blapi village in east Flores. It is made in the traditional way from homespun cotton with dyes from plants. Indigo for blue, the bark of a tree for red and leaves for yellow/green. The pattern is peacock and roses, a pattern for very young women. The cloth is not yet sewn as a sarong but still open, in one piece. Width 65cm, length 280cm
