This is a lovely pair of small Kakiemon style cups – possibly small sake cups or small tea bowls (Chawan). However, they are Chinese made. They both having matching – but not identical – designs in overglaze enamel of floral arrangements. As is typical of Kakeimon, the design is spare and not overly busy. In the center of the cups each has a tiny reddish rosette design.

The cups measure 3” diameter by 1 ½” high and are in excellent condition with no chips, hairlines or restorations - just one very tiny frit on one rim. They were purchased many years ago from a Hong Kong dealer, Kevin Wong. We have removed his label from one of the cups to determine if there was a signature underneath – they are NOT signed. We believe they are modern Chinese copies of early Japanese Kakiemon pieces.
