A Yellow/Green Chawan with Grapes Edo
This is an old chawan with an unusual colored base glaze of a greenish yellow glaze. It is decorated on the sides with underglaze green leaves and blue bunches of grapes. The upper border is an underglaze cobalt blue band that has a slight drip effect on the bottom edge. The glaze has a rough texture with tiny bits of grit in the glazing.

Overall condition is good the top rim has two 1 stable hairlines and some rim frits. The inner cavetto of the piece has one dark brown spot that would probably have occurred in the firing. The footed base has one kiln flaw that does not go through to the inner bowl. The bottom rim is unglazed and shows signs of quite a bit of usage.

We do not have any idea as to what pottery it might have come from. The bowl measures 3 diameter at the top is 1 3/8 high at the rim and the base measures 1 1/8 diameter. We date the piece to the late 18th to early 19th century, Edo period.
