This is a sweet little Japanese Fukagawa bud vase with a design in dark blue of a cherry tree with red and white cherries. It measures 3 ½” high by 2 1/2” diameter at its widest. We date it to the late Showa period, 1950s-1960s. It is signed by the three character Kanji workshop on the base. The piece is in excellent condition.

Over three hundred years ago, Eizaemon Fukagawa began hand crafting porcelain in feudal Japan. About two centuries later, the eighth generation of Eizaemon Fukagawa formed own group of potters in a town named Arita, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain.
