This is a relatively small lacquered natsume dating from the Taisho to early Showa period, circa 1925-1950s. It has a very pretty reddish brown lacquer base color. On the top of the lid there is a decoration of three double gourds with cords around the middle executed in gold makie lacquer. The natsume measures 2 ½” high and is 2 ½” diameter at widest. It is in fine condition – a few small nicks in the body of the tea caddy. It is signed on the top with the lacquerware artist name - "Gozan". The interior is done in the glossy black lacquer known as “roiro lacquer". A very nice addition to a collection of natsume.
