An Unusual Yixing Teapot – Tree Trunk – late 20th Cty.
This is one of the more interesting Yixing teapots we have had. It has been molded into the shape of a section of tree trunk with many knot holes and broken branches, It measures 5 ½” from the back of the handle to the tip of the spout – the body is 3 ½” diameter and the piece stands 3 ½” high. The lid has a small applied branch as the finial and a few darker colored stylized flowers around the lid.

There is an impressed mark in a square reserve on the bottom – it has been translated as – “maker is surname z zhou given name is Ji-xxx”. The teapot is in excellent condition – one very tiny frit on the edge of the lid – see the close-up photo. We date the piece to the late 20th century, circa 1990s - possibly earlier.
