Here we have a pretty little mukozuke dish by Eiraku. A mukozuke dish is the dish used for raw fish with a tart sauce and a contrasting vegetable, with grated wasabi. The dish has a design of a pink peony with blue leaves and is signed on the bottom. It measures 5 ¼” diameter and is 1 ½” high at the rim. It is in excellent condition. We date it to the early 20th century, circa 1920s- 1940 – possibly as early as late Meiji. Eiraku was one of the founding families of Kutani porcelain.
