A Chinese Cloisonné on Silver Locket/Pendant - Qing
Here we have a rare and lovely Chinese box/pendant. It is marked "SILVER" on the inside lip. On both sides of the piece it has a design executed in bright turquoise cloisonné ground with small hammered dots and low relief leaves. At the top and bottom of the piece are designs of small red, yellow and green flowers. There are also colorful flowers and green leaves on the thin side of the locket. There are intricate silver outlines on all of the flowers, leaves. Etc. On top of both sides there are large Chinese characters - These Chinese characters as “Happiness and Long Life.”

The silver flower on top is very rare; most of these pendant lockets simply have a round metal piece for a bail. It measures 1 1/8” wide by ¾” top to bottom and is ¼” thick. The piece is in excellent condition and is clean inside and out – it snaps tight perfectly. At the top, there is a jump ring for hanging. We date the piece to the late Qing dynasty circa, 1880s – 1910 – quite possibly a bit earlier.
