A Chinese Nephrite Jade Brush Pot - Celadon - Qing
This is a fine Chinese jade brush pot in a slanted design and with a relief carving of bamboo shoots and leaves. The brush pot measures 3 1/8" high at the high point on the back edge - is 2 1/2" high at the lower lip. It measures 2 1/4" wide and is 2" thick at the top.

The slated open top is an oval opening measuring 2" by 1" and the base measures 1 3/8" by 1". The brush pot is a lovely soft celadon color. The carved bamboo design appears to have been hand carved - not done with modern electric tools. In view of this, we believe it probably dates from the late Qing period, circa 1890s. It is in excellent condition - there is one old small carved out space on the base that may have been an artist's signature or just a slip of the carvers tools.
