A Chinese Brass/Bronze Brush Pot - Dragons - Qing
This is a fine small bronze Chinese brush pot measuring 3 `/1" high by 4 1/2" diameter at the top by 3" diameter at the base. It features two Chinese character in low relief - these translate as "long life" and "happiness". The large characters are surrounded on two sides by two fierce dragons.

We believe the metal to be a brass/bronze alloy. It is in very fine conditon - a couple of minor dents from usage and some verdi gris patina on the inside of the brush pot. It does not appear to have been polished so we lean more towards it being primarily bronze. The base has an interesting scalloped edge to it that keeps the piece steady. We date it to the late 19th century, Qing Dynasty.
