This is a charming pair of antique Japanese cloisonne miniature vases. They have an elaborate floral design on each piece; and when is placed next to the other, you can see that they are mirror images of each other. Both pieces measure 3" high and are 1/2" diameter at the top - the base is 3/4" diameter - and the widest section of each measures 1 1/4" diameter.
We believe it is rather rare to find a matched pair of Japanese cloisonne of this quality in this miniature size - even more rare is to find a matched pair with mirror images. Both are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other issues. These date from the mid to late Meiji period - just entering into the Golden Age of Japanese cloisonne, circa 1880 - 1900.
