An unusual Japanese studio pottery vase in the art deco style bearing a mark which we believe to be that of the famed Kinkozan studio. It is possible this was one of the Satsuma blanks imported in the 1920's and 1930's for decoration by American pottery painters after their sources of blanks from Germany were depleted. The potting on the piece is superb with a look that resembles that of English Poole Pottery. There is one tiny star line on the base that came from a pin prick firing fault and does not go through the other side; otherwise, near mint condition. The vase measures 6" tall and is 3 1/2" diameter and its widest.
