This bottle is a bit of a puzzle to us - we were of the opinion originally that it is made of glass with the yellow and orange streaks added to the milky white glass body. However, in looking at the bottle through a strong light we find the kind of graininess and shadowy areas that are much more characteristic of agate bottles. Moreover, the dimpled oval foot shows the signs of tooling as opposed to molding that we would associate with agate compared to a glass bottle. Whatever the medium is, the bottle is quite handsome with its small orange and yellow streaks and its well defined foot. It is a plain rounded and flattened form bottle and is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The stopper is a generic metal stopper not original to the bottle. The bottle measures 2 1/4" high ( not including the stopper) and is 1 3/4" wide at the waist by 1" thick. We date it to late 19th to early 20th century.
