|A fine early pair of Japanese folk art (Mingei) wooden dishes such as would be used in the tea ceremony. Both are made from cross sections of very old trees as evidenced by the scores of tiny growth tree rings. Deeply etched landscape scenes and calligraphy highlighted with sumi ink. The largest is 3 1/2" in diameter at the widest and the smaller one is the same width at widest but 1/2" inches narrower in the other direction. Believed to be mid-Meiji or earlier from the fine patina.|
