|A rather unusual Japanese porcelain vase glazed in a dark cobalt blue and then over painted with a design of lotus leaves rising from the base of the vase. The top of the vase has what appears to be falling leaves at the shoulder and small flowers – possibly plum blossoms – falling at the neck – all in the silver over paint. The piece is signed on the base – the signature has been translated as "Asatoshi". The vase measures 5 ¾” high and is 3” diameter at its widest. We date it to the late Meiji to Taisho period, circa 1905 – 1920. It is in excellent condition – some slight wear to the silver paint – no cracks or chips.|
