A Japanese Cobalt Blue Vase w/ Silver Paint Design
A rather unusual Japanese porcelain vase glazed in a dark cobalt blue and then over painted with a design of lotus leaves rising from the base of the vase. The top of the vase has what appears to be falling leaves at the shoulder and small flowers possibly plum blossoms falling at the neck all in the silver over paint. The piece is signed on the base the signature has been translated as "Asatoshi". The vase measures 5 high and is 3 diameter at its widest. We date it to the late Meiji to Taisho period, circa 1905 1920. It is in excellent condition some slight wear to the silver paint no cracks or chips.
