This is a very unusual combination of materials in Japanese ceramics or glass. The body of the vase is cast from a bright hunter green glass. A layer of red/orange/rust color glaze or lacquer is then used to cover all of the body except the foot of the vase. On top of that is a design in silver paint of lilies. It probably dates from the late Meiji to early Showa period, circa 1915-1930s. It measures 3 1/3” high and is 3” diameter at the waist. Excellent condition – the silver has tarnished with normal aging.
