A Tan Glazed Tea Bowl (Chawan)  Lily Buds -  Meiji
A Japanese chawan with a granular tannish glaze over a darker tan clay decorated with three yellow water lily buds with green leaves. There is a circular stacking ring in the bottom of the bowl caused in the kiln when several pieces are stacked one of top of the other prior to firing. The base of the chawan is unglazed. The piece measures 5 diameter and is 2 high it dates from the mid to late Meiji period, circa 1880-1900 and is in excellent condition. Not signed.
