| This is a rather unusual shape for a Japanese cloisonne vase with its long narrow neck and it flared base with a sharp edge to the waist of the base. Because of the color combinations and shape we have an idea it might have been made for the Persian market. It dates from the early Meiji period, circa 1870s and is in excellent condition. The normal small pitting is typical of the earliest Japanese cloisonne. The vase could have been either a bud vase or an oil vase. It measures 7" tall and is 5" diameter at the waist of the base. | ||||||||||||||
