A handsome Japanese dish with a celadon glaze over all and a green and red dragon curled into a circular shape in the center of the dish . On the top of the dish, we find a relief molding of flowers around the rim in the same celadon glaze. The bottom of the dish in plain celadon and the bottom rim is unglazed. The dish measures 7" wide by 5 5/8" top to bottom and is 1 1/2" deep. There are a few kiln spots where foreign particles in the kiln were baked into glaze and a stable firing hairline crack on the bottom where the dish joins the foot. It is in excellent condition. We date it to the late Edo period circa 1835-1860.
