| A fine studio vase glazed overall in a lovely turquoise glaze with a crackle finish. The top is round, then, at the shoulder, it changes to a hexagonal form. The vase measures 6 1/4" high by 4" diameter at its widest, The base has an unglazed rim - then the center of the base has a small band of lighter turquoise and then white glaze. In the middle of the base is a Kanji characters potters mark inside an elongated diamond shape. It means 'eternal' and is transcribed Ei, same as in the Eiraku mark seen on some red Kutani wares. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks or restoration. We date it anytime between 1920-1879, | ||||||||||
