| A mid to late Qing dynasty pottery brush holder in a lightly glazed tan finish. The brush pot is shaped as a large section of bamboo with nodules on both top and bottom. On the top rim a high relief squirrel pears over the side of the pot to look at a lizard climbing up from the lower section. The brush pot measures 6” high by 4 ¼” diameter and is in excellent condition. There is an impressed mark on the base which we have been unable to get translated. We thought at first this might be from the YiXing potters but can find no other examples - so we are not sure from which pottery it was made. We date it to the late 18th to early 19th century – could possibly be even older. | ||||||||||||
